I have read that! I've also lived it (and pretty much live it still, though I keep the sentiment to myself while at work).
Travis McGee was pretty much the best anti-hero imaginable. There was a hilarious blog where a guy read the whole series in chronological sequence and then commented on each. I recall having some witty back-and-forth with him in the threads. Definitley entertaining reading!
What a great bit about taking his retirement in chunks before he’s too old to enjoy it.
The world could learn a lot from people with an attitude where work is never the most important thing.
